PRAYAS was built for a specific reality: smallholder farmers across India's drylands are simultaneously the people most exposed to soil degradation and the least equipped to reverse it.
Through trained artisan producer networks across 36 locations in 4 states, PRAYAS converts invasive Prosopis juliflora and seasonally mapped agri-residues into enriched biochar applied directly to the fields of the communities producing it. Verified carbon removal, measurable yield improvement, and durable rural income, from the same unit of activity.
Communities at the Centre: From feedstock sourcing to field application, every stage of PRAYAS happens on or near the communities it serves. Feedstock is mapped seasonally across each operating zone — identifying when Prosopis and agri-residues removal peaks, and how the two sustain uninterrupted production year-round. Continuous production means continuous income for artisan producers. Enriched biochar returns directly to the fields they farm. The work, the income, and the soil — returned to the same hands.
Ground Data That Holds: Field data is not self-reported. It is captured at the point of activity — timestamped, geotagged, and cross-referenced against production logs. Verified in real time by certified partners. Physical samples retained in tamper-proof storage for 24 months. The integrity of our credits begins with the integrity of what gets recorded on the ground.
Uncompromising Standards Every producer is trained in-person, in local languages, and continuously — not inducted once and left to operate. SOPs cover every stage of production, are enforced across all 36 locations, and updated as field learnings accumulate. Inspection and sanction catalogues are applied without exception. The system is designed so that quality is built into the process itself.
